Ooh, good idea on the blend with the GotG duo with the wave...and even better execution from Mog!  I'm sure you've pored over those brush strokes lots :)  Also like the size of Rocket's sidearm!  Congrats, man!

You with Japan ties
Don't be discouraged, oh I'm militized
This art will take courage
In a world full of Marvel
You can lose sight of it all
It's Christmas without you
Can make you feel so small

But I see Raccoon colors
Shining through
I see your Groot colors
And that's why I love you
Mog won't be afraid Rocket this show
Racoon colors
Groot colors are beautiful
Like a rainbow

Show me a smile then
Card waves from daddy
Can't remember when
I last saw you dancing
Art world makes you crazy
And traditions all you can bear
Just call me up
'Cause I will always be there

And I see Raccoon colors
Shining through
I see your Groot colors
And that's why I love you

So don't be a wave to let them post
Mog's true colors
Groot colors are beautiful

When tickets finally go on sale for the grand opening of your GOTG museum, I fully expect this to be the first piece I see at the entrance ;)

Thanks Rick! I am a dreamer! Always have been! I can see it now. This as the banner for the exhibit on street posts!

I really enjoyed reading your description!  That is so interesting that you took lessons in Japanese language and cultural practices that still affect you to this day.   And also, that is so cool that you tied together that impactful postcard from your Dad during his stint in Japan with your two favorite comic book characters.  The result is incredibly stunning.  Major congrats on this one!

Great looking piece and tribute to the Great Wave, thanks for sharing that story about your childhood/father and background with learning Japanese culture. Sounds like it was definately deeply engrained in you and that makes the piece even more meaningful

What a touching story to give such meaning to an already wonderful piece of artwork. I can totally emphatize with you about the difficulty of communicating with loved ones across the oceans and how each minute of telephone time was so very precious and yet so very expensive. And the song resonates with me too!

Cool commission and great story!  I especially like the song, since it was my first dance wedding song! I think I still remember the moves. Okay, time to go now and ask my wife to dance with me.

Ian, you received an incredibly beautiful commission with this piece! Adding in the story about your childhood and tying it in withthe Great Wave was also really great to read. So cool, man. Arigato!

Combining such a personal memory with a present and enduring passion for a character is what itd all about. Brilliant!!!

I was there at the beginning! I saw the commission conversation in action, and knew it would be a good one. So great to see the final result. My dad was career Air Force, and I too have a shoebox of postcards from various TDYs when we couldn't accompany him. We all wear the brat monicker proudly.
