Planetary 18 – page 13

I imagine that just like every comics fan who has read a John Cassaday-drawn comic I was very sorry to hear that he had passed away this week and at such a young age.

When I try to bring to mind a comics page (other than from the obvious The Dark Knight Returns or Watchmen) that illustrates that a panel page is not only every bit as good as but even better than a splash page or cover then I think of page 15 of issue 6 of Captain America in Justin Hutchinson’s CAF gallery. That displays the essence of comics. Whoever is the current owner of that page (it is not me) is a very lucky person.

I will be sad to no longer see new work from John Cassaday but that is nothing compared to how his family and friends must be feeling now. My deepest sympathies to John Cassaday’s loved ones.
