Description
Some comic artists become known for certain characters but to become known for Doctor Doom? That artist has to be something truly special.

The Doom one shot from 2024 was completely bought by one collector and I was a bit bummed that I wouldn't be able to grab a page from Sanford and Hickman's opus. This 11 x 17 pinup is the next best thing.

Thanks for the help, F

Nice!  I think Doom uses a gun here just for sport.  The man could host a season of "1000 Ways to Die" with his enemies.

That little glint off his left gauntlet is the perfect touch.

Very nicely illustrated! But, why does he need a ray gun? Doesn't he still have blasters that fire from his armor? Either way........

DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

I just did a search and Kirby (among others) have drawn him with a gun. Must be in the super-villain bylaws.

Oh for sure! It's not that I hadn't seen him with one before, it's just that my memories of him using a gun go back to the 60's and 70's and I don't have a memory of him using it during the 80's and beyond, as he always seemed to be able to point at people and blast them that way.

I was bummed to miss out on a piece from that issue, too, but as you say, next best thing here!  Love the charging face forward pose, as well as how the shadow of the cape kinda frames him.  Great stuff from Sanford.  Congrats!

Great looking Doom piece from Sanford! Nice to see his popularity rise as the talent/skills have always been there previously but more recent projects have put him in the limelight more which is great (despite collectors not getting a shot at individual pages on the 1 shot). congrats on getting this!

Doom pointing the gun at us is like the perfect homage to Kirby's great Doctor Doom posters for Marvel Mania and western gunslinger films!

Doom is coming right at you, and oh that glimmer!! The issue from Sanford is fantastic and same applies to the pinup.

Well, since you were shut out of picking up a page from Sanford Greene's Doom, this isn't a half-bad consolation prize. Who knew Sanford Greene would find his mojo drawing Doctor Doom? What a gorgeous commission! Sanford really brought his A game to this piece. Love the battle-torn cape of Doom here, as well as the nasty looking gleam in his eyes. I wouldn't be too worried about the pop-gun he's pointing at us, since I suspect he's probably got a half dozen satellites in near-earth orbit that could blow us away any time he wants. Fantastic pick-up, congrats!
