Description
From the first X-Men issue after the AGE OF APOCALYPSE ended, comes this page of issue #42 story called HEAVEN CAN WAIT.

In this issue, Milan (an Acolyte) goes into the mind of Holocaust (the displaced son of Apocalypse from the dark reality of Earth-295) and gets overwhelmed, sees a vision of what was the AGE OF APOCALYPSE. In this image, we get to see a mix of characters from both the Astonishing X-Men and Amazing X-Men AoA teams:
Iceman, Magneto, Rogue (holding their baby Charles), Quicksilver, Exodus, Storm, Dazzler, Banshee, and Nightcrawler. It’s a great collection of characters recalled from a favorite storyline when I was still very young and new to comics. This isn’t a proper AoA page but right next to it and certainly part of the larger storyline of the effects and consequences from that prime era arc.

On top of what is so great for the AoA realm, this is a DPS X-Men page from Paul Smith and Matt Ryan. Having really enjoyed Paul Smith’s eary run on Uncanny X-Men issues #165 - 175 (minus #171), getting a page of his art is a huge checklist for my X-Men collection. For now this satisfies the AoA need as well.
I really enjoy the splashy action across the two pages, and the sequence of action beats as Milan is overwhelmed and even starts to melt, but the AoA team shot by this art master is what made me chase and ultimately somehow get this great DPS. The fear and disgust as he sees Exodus and Magneto working together on the same side, is perfect. We would see this again in the next 25 years as they work together in the Krakoan era X-Men (Immortal X-Men and various other main title X books).

Way to work the double page spread format!  Got some outstanding storytelling sandwiching that intense middle image.  Are we surprised?!  It IS Paul Smith after all!  Way to kill 2 birds as well in terms of checking both PS and AoA with this one...what a way to do it, man.  Pure '90s goodness.  Congrats!

Outstanding DPS!  Paul Smith on the X-Men again is what fans demanded ever since he had left.  This two parter got the title back on track after AoA!

That's what happens when you go poking your mind around where it doesn't belong!

You don't invade the mind of villain and expect there to be no consequences!  Rookie mistake by Milan but nice addition to your collection, JD!

Absolutely stunning X-Men page by the great Paul Smith. Not only do you get a whole slew of X-men characters as drawn by Smith, you get strong visual storytelling as only Paul Smith can do it. Fantastic pick-up, congrats!
