Description

This is an absolutely charming self-portrait of Billy DeBeck, portraying himself at his drawing board, with his trusty dog nearby. The drawing came out of a collection that featured work that once belonged to cartoonist Will Gould, so I imagine that DeBeck drew this for Gould, who worked for King Features like DeBeck. Just a terrific image, with likely the largest DeBeck signature on record! :-)

That's a great piece! It shows the artist putting all of his attention to his drawing board. A cartoony caricature of himself also shows his sense of humility.
