DescriptionShown here is a penciled panel rough for an issue (I believe it was issue 3) of Somerset Holmes (SH).Brent told me he would draw these roughs on vellum to work out poses, shading, etc., before transferring the image to the final page. He used this technique throughout SH to give the book a cinematic “movie” look. That helped considering all of the reference photography he used. He told me, "Bruce, April and I were essentially doing a Hitchcock film adopting comics narrative so photo realism was necessary hence the photos." This one is from the sequence where Somerset is trying to escape her attackers and goes to a train station. There, she commandeers the clothes, and ticket, of Cindy, a wealthy traveler she comes across in a restroom. Here she has opened Cindy's bags and "borrowed" some of her clothes to disguise herself by covering her red hair and wearing sunglasses. Social/Sharing |
