This was back in 2003 when Wizard World VIP passes were something special.

VIP members got a meet & greet with rotating tables to talk and interact with big artists. It usually just meant a LOT of free work for the artists as we all wanted to talk and have a little treasure of the event. The first time I got a VIP I didn’t know and all I had was the back of my VIP pass to have sketched. This time I was ready! Michael was at my first table, truly such a kind and friendly man. His life was cut far too short. He was just starting up his own adventure. I was so excited I didn’t know what to ask for so he drew one of his new little pet creations. When we moved tables I went straight to Marc like it was Black Friday….legend…I had been staring at his work since I was a kid…I had recently gotten back into comics with his Darkness/Witchblade creation and I wanted a little head sketch of his little darkling that wore his baseball hat backwards.
