This is some next level cool shit right there.
Agreed !
so freaking cool. congrats and thanks for sharing it Lance!
Bob Latimer, now there's a name from the past. As far as collectors go, he was THE MAN in the 80's. Even though I was a newbie back then, even I knew his name. What a collector and what a collection. So cool you actually got something from him. Makes me wonder what else you might have managed to come away with from the Latimer vault.
Timeless and iconic art, Lance!! This is how the Marvel universe was built!
Great piece and provenance! Have some pages with the Latimer stamp on the back...wish I had more!
This is a lifetime membership! Marvel for life!
Too good!
That's phenomenal! Wow!
Sixties hip!
That's fantastic Lance! A piece of Marvel history from one of the top collectors of all time! Remember when Bob brought the complete "Red Nails" by Barry Smith to SDCC when the rest of us might be able to purchase a single page of Smith art, he brings over 55 pages! Those were great times!
Hi Glynn. So was it Bob who Mike Thibodeaux acquired Red Nails from? Also, I recall that when I spoke to Mike about it over 20 years ago, it was incomplete. Missing one page, as I recall. Do you know if it was already incomplete when Bob owned it?
Hi Ruben, yes it was incomplete the day we looked through it at SDCC. And if I remember correctly it was 2 or 3 pages that were missing. Barry may have given or sold those before Bob acquired the story directly from Barry. At that time Bob had first shot on just about anything Barry had!
Thanks, Glynn. Bob was certainly a fortunate man back then! And yes, I wrone "one" page but I wasalso thinking it may have been two or three. Thanks for confirming that!
Bob Latimer is one of the well known old school names in the hobby, so I think it's even more special to attain such an incredible piece of original specialty art like this, as it adds a wonderful provenance.
Beautiful!
Man, that is just an incredible piece of Marvel history !
Wow. What a Gem. What great provenance and historical facts you have described on art collecting. I wonder if Uncle Bob is still around. I am lucky enough to own a few Kraven Last Hunt pieces that once graced his amazing collection. Thanks for sharing.
