HBO's "The Pacific" conveys the horror and fear, following John Basilone, who received the Medal of Honor, on Guadalcanal. 

"Nips", eh? That didn't age well... I love that second panel, what a great camera pov!

Guadalcanal was 80+ years ago, this comic about 60 years old. The language is no doubt accurate and mild compared to other things that were said. Great observation about camera point of view, which he excels at. 

Oh, it's definitely accurate. I'm just pointing out how awful it is to see those types of racist insults when looking back at these older comics today.

Grim portrayal of the horrors of war!

intense final panel showing the reality of combat. art wise I especially like that 2nd panel from inside the cockpit perspective and a close up of the aviator goggles on the pilot but still being able to see his wingman through the window...really cool!
