Description

More than one issue of Dampyr begins with grave robbers finding out that undead and monsters tend to congregate in graveyards:

“Here we go, guys. He's buried here, in front of the Orthodox altar. Vlad Tepes, the Impaler! Also known as Dracula, Prince of the Vampires.”

“It's a loose slab of stone. It shouldn't be hard to lift.”

“And Dracula's remains will be ours.”

“Guys, let's reconsider this. Don't... wouldn't it be better to leave it alone? What if he really is a vampire?”

“Well, in that case we'd make an exceptional discovery, don't you think? But calm down. We'll only find old bones. Bones that will make us rich, since there are plenty of crazy people willing to spend a fortune to have them. Ha ha ha!”

“What? But... I thought we would protect them. We are the followers of the 'New Order of the Dragon'... Dracula founded it and...”

“Jolly nonsense, Ion.”

“Did you really believe all that nonsense, friend? You should know what Mihail is like. He schemes more than the devil does!”

Vlad Tepes was known for impaling his defeated foes on tall stakes to intimidate others. His father adopted the title "Dracul" ("Dragon") when he joined the medieval Order of the Dragon. Vlad was known as "Dracula" meaning "(son) of Dracul." Bram Stoker's 1897 novel Dracula originally had as its antagonist "Count Wampyr," but at some point Stoker re-christened the character "Count Dracula."

Dracula: It is no laughing matter! We Draculs have a right to be proud! What devil or witch was ever so great as Attila, whose blood flows in these veins?! Blood... is too precious a thing in these times. The warlike days are over. The victories of my great race are but a tale to be told.  I am the last of my kind.
Jonathan Harker: I have offended you with my ignorance, Count. Forgive me.

damnit, Rick beat me to the Tomb Raider videogame / Lara Croft joke! Something tells me it's not gonna work out so well for these grave robber guys.

The early bird gets first choice at the best relevant jokes.
