Description

The scene shifts from Vlad Dracula's (putative) tomb at Snagov Monastery to his hometown of Sighișoara:

“This city is fantastic. Just sleeping within the circle of its aged walls gives me the shivers. I wouldn't be surprised if a vampire were walking outside.”

“If so, he would fly into the room in the form of a bat and say, 'Adieu, les garçons!' ('Hello, boys!') Isn't that right, Monsieur Radu?”

“Well, fortunately it's only a fairy tale, Mr. LaPierre.”

“Aha! That is not the right attitude, my dear, dear Radu. You are Romanian. You have to believe in vampires. Tourists will expect that the locals, especially those living near a Dracula theme park, firmly believe in the existence of vampires.”

“Forgive me, Mister Vance. After all, it is business and...”

“My friend Vance is a ruthless businessman, but at the same time a naïve and dreamy child.”

“Vampires are my passion, Radu, and this park of ours will be the crowning of a dream. We will buy this ancient citadel and transform it into a paradise of horror!”

“Uhm, unfortunately since Sighișoara was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the Ministry of Tourism has been reluctant to grant any permits.”

“What?”

“Nothing to fear, Mister Vance. The 'Dracula Park' will be built nearby, on a plateau covered by a thousand-year-old forest.”

The imposing appearance of Vance was inspired by actor Liam Neeson. Radu is also the name of the real-life brother of Vlad Tepes. He was known as Radu the Handsome, so casting bug-eyed Peter Lorre in the role here is something of a joke.

The part about a UNESCO designation and a national park standing in the way of a Dracula theme park is a true story.
