In my experience, Brian Stelfreeze is not only one of the nicest comic artists one can meet, he's one of the most talented. That's a pretty good combination in my book.

At OAX, I asked Brian to contribute to my "Artist Choice and Why" sketchbook. In this sketchbook, the artist's may draw anything they wish on the page, but they must tell me why they drew that image. It's an interesting way to learn a little about the artist and what interests them.

In this case, Brian asked for time to contemplate and I was happy to oblige since I really wasn't planning for any other sketches at the show. It's easy to be generous in such a situation. :)

As you can see, he chose Nightwing. As an explanation, he wrote, "As a fan I watched Nightwing grow up from a sidekick to the man he is... I think of him as a younger brother."

I found that very interesting.

P.S., I learned from a FB comment that Brian redesigned Nightwing�s costume from George Perez� original design.

I like how his inks don't exactly follow the blue pencil and he is confident enoguh to just go with the flow of the brush.

love the overall idea of having the artists say the "why", really cool. And Brian does a great Nightwing, congrats
