Description
CYCLOPS - FALL OF X - X-MEN Main Cover - Oct 2023 - Joshua Cassara

So much to love from this huge check list original art item. It’s my first main title X-Men cover from an artist that we really enjoy from an end to one of my favorite recent eras in comics.

It’s no secret that Cassara is a favorite current artist, this cover captures it all really well. The torment and torture showcased in so much great detail. There are a lot of fine detail line-work in pencil and blended with his inks on top. It was July 2023, when we first met Joshua Cassara, we had just seen an X-Men panel with some really cool upcoming art, and I knew of his work on X-Force, his many covers and his then current work on the main title X book. We went through his portfolio of art in artist alley SDCC and immediately clocked this cover and I knew I needed to get before anyone else saw it. It was a brutal cover of Cyclops, his eyes sewn shut and chunks of his costume ripped away from the abuse he had taken from FALL OF X, which marked the end of the Krakoan era. It was a book cover that also wasn’t released yet, as it was a cover for something coming out in October.

We ended up getting a nice stash of his artwork that year and connected about getting the Domino splash page from X-Force #2 which is where I first fully came to know of his massive artistic talents.

Cyclops in Kubick's Eyes Wide Shut!  Might be the finest look for him yet with Cassara getting the most emotion out ofth stoic leader!

Cassara is awesome, this is a strong image of Cyclops in despair/peril and a highly detailed cover, congrats on a great experience meeting him and adding this piece at a show!

Cyclops has been through it! Luckily he always dates telepaths.

Excellent! What a powerful cover by Josh Cassara for X-Men #27!  That image of Cyclops tied down with his eyes sewed shut is horrific! Joshua does an amazing job here of creating an image that just demands that you buy the comic. So many covers these days just have pin-ups for covers but this one captures the most dramatic moment from inside the story and makes it the focus. Cassara does an amazing job here depicting Cyc's agony. Powerful drawing with strong inks and ink wash bring the scene to life. Phenomenal pick-up, congrats!

I remember this scene well jumping right  out of the page. So good. So much detail. I need to buy more Cassara X-Men art. Congrats!

Love it, man!  I posted my first and thus far only ASM main cover OA this year...love seeing your first here on X-Men!  Great pure illustration, tense moment to say the least, and definitely makes you wanna open up the book to see what's up inside.  Being a long reading comic collector I've loved that last aspect to covers since I was a kid.  Little less prioritized these days, which makes me like 'em even more.  Congrats!
