Description
This was the original ad used inside the 1983 DC Comics which production changed to fit a vertical page layout. Ernie wrote a note indicating that this was the first drawing of Amethyst. It does have a DC Comics 1990 stamp on the back for some reason.

Man, this takes me back to just one year into reading and collecting! I loved the mystery in this house ad and it got me to buy the maxi-series. I'd live to read it again, and I would, if they'd collect it into a TPB. Congrats on getting such a fun piece, Shaun!

The series is in a trade as I have a copy.

Oh, I guess they collected it and it went out of print, as usual. 😕

Anyone reading DC would have encountered this house ad and the blitz probably put Amethyst in the minds of number one issue collectors and fans of sword and sorcery!  Colon is very effective in showing the dark magic tone of the comic at a time when Dark Crystal, Sword and the Sorceror, Conan, Krull, etc were in theaters.

Great use of b&w by Colon (who is vastly underrated)

I never circled back around to the Amethyst character that I remember as far as reading goes but I'm sure I saw this ad in various back issues I picked up earlier on. The art is very very nice. Almost thought it was Gwen Stacy on first glance but then everything else next to her made no sense for that ha. anyway great and historic piece!
