DescriptionOne of the more surprising occurrences of last year is that I went from an admirer of Usagi Yojimbo to a superfan who's read dozens of issues in the span of about 4 months. I already was familiar with the character and had bought a few issues, but revisiting them made me really appreciate how great the comic is, and I've bought several trades, issues et cetera. I've yet to meet Stan but hes an art hero of mine as an indie comic artist. But I also was able to connect with another artist who's worked with the Rabbit Ronin, one Jaren Cullum. I was already familiar with him when he happened to notice a few Usagi artworks I posted to a Facebook group for Usagi fans. As it happens, we live in the same city, so he ended up sending me one of the trades I didnt already have. I also got to tell him of some of my cureent projects in comics and get some advice, something I never pass up the opportunity to do. Well, when he sent over the trade, he included this amazing small Usagi watercolor. My mind was blown, because I didn't ask for any art at all and would've been content with the TPB itself. I love it, and its truly the mark of a class act of a person and artist to do something like that. I easted no time getting it framed as my first Usagi piece, but certainly not my last. Cool art, cool story, congrats!
Thank you! All to Jared, he absolutely didn't have to do this but I'm so happy he did

Watercolor is beautiful, but not always what I'd call fun. Jared has found the formula for merging the two and has been putting out some delightful work. Congrats!

Thats a great way of putting it. He preserves the fluidity of brush strokes while having the painterly ethereal textures of the watercolors!

Jared has a back for capturing the essence of a character. The colors are spot on. This is a gorgeous piece of art

I could gush about it, the colors, the dynamism of the brush strokes, even the textures that don't show on the picture... its awesome. Im very lucky to have the opportunity to own it.

Wow love t his little piece. Jared makes it look so easy and free. Great drawing elements in it too. Love the frame but you need to recut the mat, or get rid of it. it is choking the piece, needs some air to breath imo.

I'll have to look into ways of doing that... framing is an area in which my expertise lacks!
