Beautiful painted art from a Jigsaw Puzzle released by Mattel / Whitman. The painting done in Gouache is attributed to R. L. Allen, the illustrator for many of Whitman's Golden Press puzzles.

Puzzles were big in the 80's and just at the right time for He-Man and other colorful pop culture cartoons to become stars on the toy aisle as well.  This would have been seen just as much as the action figure art on toy packages.
