DescriptionMécanique Céleste (Aster of Pan), 2019, written and illustrated by Merwan. This beautiful page features main characters Aster and Wallis."The small, post-apocalyptic zone of Pan is threatened by the hi-tech neighboring Federation of Fortuna, and their only hope is to win the ritualized game known as "Celestial Mechanics". And their key to winning lies with a girl from the outside named Aster..." A second volume (The Source) has followed. This page was previously owned by Steve.M, though I got it at an auction in France. I'm sorry you had to let go of this page, Steve, it is lovely! The color in person is even more vibrant than either of the images I've uploaded. This page fits in with several of my new goals for collecting OA: more color work; artists who are new to me, and relatively new in the comic art scene; work that I'd like to frame and hang on my walls; art I can enjoy with my family. Congratulations, I'm thrilled it's found a new, worthy, custodian. I bought this directly from the artist, so there are few that can attest to how magical this piece is in person. Hope it gives you and your family joy for many many years to come!
A nice little detail I'll share with you, the new custodian:
I noticed that the dialogue of the original art didn't match with the published page so I asked Merwan about it, here is what he had to say: (posted w/ permission) Eh! Yes the first change is importante! « Alors tu te ramènes » means « come on! » « Alors tu prends racines? » is an expression that means « will you stay there like if you were a plant? » And that’s Wallis problem, he is not moving in his life and at the end he is trying to suicide him by planting his legs in the toxic solution like a tree. The difference is that Aster is always in motion. The second change is not so important but it shows that Wallis is very accurate with the model of the bomb that reenforce their recycling way of life

Wow, fantastic story, Steve, thank you for sharing. It really speaks to Merwan's thoughfulness as a creator. This piece will be in the next batch that goes to the framer.
