Shown here is one of the versions Scott painted for the cover for the first volume of the Wicked graphic novel released on March 11, 2025.

Many of the "pages" in the graphic novel, including the cover, were composed using pieces from other pages. Using a technique like the one George Pratt used for Wolverine: Netsuki, Scott would create a background and use separate images to move them for effect.

A perfect example of this is the graphic novel�s cover. The image, as printed, does not exist as a standalone piece. There were two proposed covers for the graphic novel: the blue one also shown on CAF and the second one featuring Oz. The editors and production team at Little-Brown/William Morrow Paperbacks decided they liked the components of each cover and combined those to make the finished cover. Production took the Elphaba figure from Version 1 but the Glinda figure from this version. They also used the background of Oz shown here but placed it on the blue background of Version 1.

Confusing?? You bet.

Each version of the cover fills an 11 x 17" piece of 2-ply Bristol board. The image is rendered in pencil and then painted with mixed media.
