This is great with BWS' 80's style and what a time it was with his return to comics just a few years earlier. It's right about the time after he did the Marvel Fanfare 15 story of the Thing.
Yes it is and Marcus I love that story
I watched this piece on Albert's site for many years as well--so happy to hear that it's ended up in a loving, appreciative home, and I'm sure that would have made Sean happy as well. Congrats!
I'm glad I didn't bid you up as certainly feels like yours is the right home; FYI, when I got my sole Weapon X page from BWS 20 years ago, he included a copy of this Thing sketch with the art so he must like it!
Beautiful and clearly in the right collection.
Sockamagee!
Like many BWS fans I was tracking this as soon as it popped up on Heritage two Thursdays ago when there was only an "image coming soon" placeholder on it. However the direction the price was going was way beyond my comfort zone at the moment. There are no bad BWS pieces from 1985-86 onwards when he came back into comics and this is a small gem which acts as a taster for that terrific issue of Marvel Fanfare he did. That was a fine write-up of the drawing's journey and final destination. Thank you for sharing that ~ patience pays off ~ and of course for sharing this lovely little portrait.
I put a bid in on this one too, but your connection to it and story is way better than mine, so. Dry happy it ended up in a great place! I always loved the BWS Thing story from Marvel Fanfare.
I really wanted this one but I like your story and glad you got it!
Beautiful BWS Benjy.
Reads to me as though you're an eloquent storyteller, and that was a sad and bittersweet tale with a happy ending of the art ending up in the right home. Barry does an extraordinary job with the downwards low curve of Ben's mouth, and in that mood you might be happier that he doesn't open it to speak! Nice illo.
