DescriptionWhen Jack Kirby left Marvel for DC in the early 1970s, few expected his debut title to be Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen. Yet during his groundbreaking 15-issue run, beginning with Issue #133, Kirby brought dramatic changes to the series, shifting it from a lighthearted, episodic format to a continuous narrative with a more serious tone. Although Kirby's work on Jimmy Olsen is often underappreciated, its influence and lasting impact on the title are undeniable. Kirby's talent and unmistakable style shine on this cover, which features Superman heroically swooping in to save Jimmy and the Newsboy Legion from becoming a meal for "Big Charlie," a bug-eyed Kirby Monster lurking ominously on the right! Adding to the significance of this piece is the rare collaboration between Kirby and Anderson, making it a unique and coveted piece for a myriad of reasons.Social/Sharing |
