Description

Percy Crosby (1891-1964) was the cartoonist of the wonderful Skippy, one of the most energetic comic strips ever drawn. Crosby dealt with mental illness toward the latter part of his life, but in the 1920s and 30s, he was drawing strips, illustrating for major magazines, and writing books. One of the books he wrote was “Dear Sooky”, his 1929 book featuring fictitious letters from Skippy to his friend Sooky. I’m pleased to offer a first edition copy of the book that features an absolutely wonderful ink drawing on the front-end page. The drawing captures the energy of Crosby’s work, taking up the entire page. The book itself is not rare. In this case, the condition is only fair. But the page with the drawing, even with some toning, is in solid VG condition. The page with the drawing measure 8½”x 5½”. $125.00 + 7.00 Media Mail shipping.
