X-Factor #227 pg 18 (Kirk art, David story) - Strong Guy gives Bloodbath a bloodbath

A literal BLOODBATH!

I recently reread the X-Cutioner’s Song X-title crossover and when going through some art I saw a fun page of Guido (Strong Guy) which caught my attention and was time to post. He wasn’t a prime character in this X-travaganza crossover, but was prominent enough to leave a great impression and was time to post some art to share my continued love for this big lovable guy.

Guido Carosella (aka Strong Guy) first appeared in New Mutants #29 (1985). At first look he is interchangeable with Blockbuster or Slab (with his power to convert kinetic energy into physical strength), but when you get to know this kind hearted loveable jokester, he is worlds apart from the intimidating character he portrays.

This page features another side to him, especially seen toward’s the end of vol 1 X-Factor run, where his rage and aggression takes over (he eventually looses his soul and heart, after being resurrected from Layla Miller). He beats down a D-list villain named Bloodbath. The splashy panel of his beat down is very similar to a beat down from Blockbuster that I’ll need to post later. It’s a great piece of art showcasing what his strength can really do and rarer in this time of X books to get something so bloody (colored page features the inky blacks in blood red). Also featured in this page are most of the other teammates from this era: Longshot, Madrox (Multiple-Man), M and Shatterstar.
