Terror-iffic cover!
Caught between a shark and bad buoy. Yikes!
congrats!!! this is a really good one from his run of DC horror 70s covers!!! great pickup...if you ever decide it doesn't fit your collection in the future call me lol ;-p
Dominguez captures the tense situation and elicits emotions of terror from the audience as there is no hope of escape this time! He knew how to press the buttons for the covers that would get us to buy the book!
Looks like another homerun. Congrats.
Great cover and I enjoyed the write up too - choices!
This is why it's best to just stay home if you're doing drugs...
You dropped this in the middle of the night and scared me!
I would literally frame this and put it in the bathroom.
Fantastic 70's horror cover!
GORGEOUS!
That is one cool cover
X-Men who? Time to switch your collecting focus altogether!! Great cover!!
Love this Witching Hour cover by Luis Dominguez! It has so much tension on it, between the guy's boat sinking and the shark chasing him and the hooded skeleton on the navigational buoy offering him a bony hand. Luis Dominguez drew a number of horror books for DC back in the '70s and on this one he really brought his "A" game. I really love Luis' brushowrk here, from the splotchy technique he used on the ocean waves to the extensive crosshatching he used in the sky and on the creepy skeleton hanging onto the buoy. His work is so well done I wonder if he would've been drawing covers and stories for the old EC Comics back in the 50s. He would've been perfect for it. Great pick-up, congrats!
All roads lead to death. Congrats on this fantastic horror cover!
The dread is clear! This guy's got it from front and back! Vintage horrific goodness, J, congrats!
Lovely job by Dominguez, a real master of (DC) horror. A wonderful, suspenseful composition. The water effects are great too, with a mix of broad and feathered brushstrokes. Great cover!
