Olimpia intends to remove her rival for Sergio's affections:

“It’s about my breakfast tomorrow. Look! Your wife!”

“Sergio! Who are these people? What do they want from us?”

“You yourself will slaughter her for me. This is the test of fidelity I was telling you about. After you get rid of her, you will be free. I am convinced that this is what you want too.”

“Sergio, I’m scared!”

“Rocco! Did you know about this too?”

“Of course! He was the one who went to get your Livia. As you can see, he had to use strong methods. She just didn't want to follow him.”

“To the devil with you, damn witch!” (attacks her with the huge knife she gave him.)

“Ha ha! My love, you know very well that won’t work with me!”
