Dampyr #172 (2014) pages 96-97: Man vs car

Kurjak and Harlan's car has a flat and can no longer pursue Olimpia. But she's not content to escape; she has her driver circle back around for one last pass:

“Ha ha ha! We got rid of that damned Dampyr! In fact, while we're at it, we might as well put an end to him, once and for all!”

(Her car comes straight at Harlan.) “By all the damned souls!”

“Dampyr, do you feel fear now too?”

“Aaah!”

Olimpia's driver tries to run down Harlan. Harlan unloads a full clip into the car, which bursts into flames, careening over the retaining wall into the Tiber river below. For a moment it's superimposed with the flaming chariot from the Olimpia legend, as depicted on the cover of this issue. When the dust clears on page 98, two pedestrian onlookers discuss what just happened:

“He was speeding the wrong way on Lungotevere. Then some guy shot him.”

“Who? Where is he?”

“He was there just a second ago...”

But Harlan and Kurjak have slipped away in the night. Olimpia's obsessions proved to be her undoing. The End!
