Description

The recent Heritage auction was incredibly exciting to watch, and was probably the closest I'll ever get to the original art. The painting sold for $20K! While it seems Greg did many prelims for this card, I'm over the moon about mine because of its large format (11x17), the erasure marks, and its closeness to the final pose. You can see some thought process here with the anatomy and lighting all worked out. I like to think that THIS is the version where Greg had his "aha moment"! Unfortunately, I purchased the art after he passed and it was unsigned-- but Greg's wife was kind enough to issue a COA on request.

Around the same time, I also lucked out and found a copy of the card with wet ink signatures from BOTH Brothers Hildebrandt. Tim hasn't been with us since 2006, so this was an exciting find in the wild. The card will be a companion piece to the preliminary art in my collection.

That's pretty cool with the upcoming auction for the painted card coming up soon. This has the figure and lighting all worked out with the extra heavy pencil for the outlines.
