Description
Just past the halfway point. Continuing to post more art from my Original Comic Art Unboxing with Ruben DaCollector.

This one takes me way back. Once upon a time, early in my art collecting, I was buying all the Weird Western Tales covers I could find, Jonah Hex or Scalphunter. I was a fan of the title (I had a thing for Westerns) and when I started collecting they could be had for cheap, especially the Scalphunter covers. I ended up with quite a few of them.

As prices slowly crept up, I bowed out. I didn't want to be the one setting the prices for covers nobody else was buying. I'm sure there was a collector or two that wanted an example but nobody was buying them all except me. I had 10 WWT covers when I stopped and that was good enough for me. (maybe I'll post them all one day).

A few covers have hit the market since then but I easily passed on them as they cost more than I was willing to pay. It had been a long time since I've seen a Weird Western Tales cover for sale. Then Anthony posted two on his website. I wanted them! but again the price was too high (not unreasonable but more than I was willing to pay). I had a dollar amount in my head and I wasn't willing to go above it. The difference between the price I was willing to pay and the marked price was too big to make an offer, so I put them out of my mind.

Then on one of Anthony's make an offer shows, he highlighted the covers. Trying to generate sales he lowered the price closer to what I needed it to be. I made an offer(@ a lower price), he countered, I passed. LOL He lowered his price again to $100 above my limit and I relented. He discounted the piece 30% off his original asking price. Nobody does that! and I mean NOBODY does that except Anthony.

Say what you like about other dealers but Anthony is always willing to haggle to get a sale or keep/get a customer. Anthony likes the back and forth (as do I) and I suspect he gets as much joy from it as he does from the actual sale. So my thanks to Anthony for this cool cover. Happy to add another Weird Western Tales cover to the collection.

Luis Dominguez was a long time DC artist who did covers for DC's horror and western comics. I think his work is instantly recognizable, I'm a big fan as he did a lot of Jonah Hex and Scalphunter covers.

All original stats.

He's such a softy when it's time to make payroll!  You put a whippin' on the price as if it was a government mule!

Now that's a cover telling quite the dramatic story/moment (dare I use "cliffhanger" ;)

When a Scalphunter comes along, you must whip it!

We don't want to go to war today,
But the Lord of the Lash says, "Nay, nay, nay"!
We're gonna march all day, all day, all day!
For where there's a whip, there's a way!
