Reinier Gamboa - Blessing Force, 2009, Ballpoint Pen On Paper, 6.5 x 10 Inches, Signed. Copyright Reinier Gamboa.
Reinier Gamboa was born in Camaguey, Cuba and lived on the island until 1995, when at the age of 11 he immigrated to the US with his family. He attended New World School of the Arts high school and subsequently received a BFA, on a full scholarship, from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA in 2006. Gamboa’s practice explores dualities between subject and environment, reality and the realm of dreams or imagination. He is intrigued by the mechanisms and processes of perception and explores the way realities are colored by human knowledge, life experience, senses and belief systems. Gamboa’s practice in acrylic and oil painting is grounded in portraiture and a strong foundation in drawing.
