Sweet layout! Congrats!
Wow , Must be really awesome in person !
Sincere congrats .
I have fond memories of this DPS, as X-Men 105 was the second issue of X-Men that I ever read back 1977. (The first was 104.) It was one of the comics in a Marvel Multi-Mags 3-pack. Like with you, this was my introduction to Firelord. I love the layout of the pages and the awesome Cockrum art.
I was there with you. I had bought #101 off the spinner rack and then found #100 and #104 in those same 3 pack value packs. This was my 4th issue of X-Men. It was hard to string together consecutive issues back in the day.
I also love how he did the smaller panels up top leaving space for the large Firelord image across both pages.
So nice!
Spectacular! You keep adding stunners...
And I hadn't even realized Bob inked this issue (it's been a while since I've read this one).
Epic Cockrum X-Men DPS, wow!!
Since now I know who will be the winner ON THE best of 2025 for the DPS category! X-TRAORDINARY piece of art! The whole team in a spuer-well packaged action piece!! A++ post! Hats off man!
I think Gene Park has that one sewn up.
World class double splash.
Woof!
The hits keep on coming!
Magnificent!!
What a spread! The New X-Men in action and Firelord looking more powerful and intimidating than anyone they've faced so far!
I bought this comic off the back wall back in the 1980s - Firelord is such a well-designed herald - congrats on this killer DPS! The X-Men DPS vote is going to be fun to see this year...
Love the layout on this one! I really like the little insert at the top with Firelord closeup. Nice touch!
Thanks for posting a large scan. It's awesome to see all of the great detail and Layton's inks really work well over Dave's pencils! Congrats again on the amazing pickup!
As I've said before, just trying to keep up with you.
Didn't realize Firelord started this early. Very cool!
Nice one!
Beauty! This fight was Claremont's sneaky way of showing that Phoenix had cosmic-level power. The editors would not let her trade blows with Silver Surfer, but they okayed a battle with Firlord, who did fight the Surfer as an equal. By the transit property of combat, Phoenix was therefore the equal of Norrin Radd.
That is some great trivia that I did not know. Thanks for sharing that.
Sockamagee!
Wonderful, classic full team battle splash by Dave!
Wow, absolutely stunning Cockrum X-Men DPS, uncanny I say, huge congrats!!
Classic Marvel action. The DPS layout has a pleasing symmetry, with the upper tier panels echoing the shape of the leaping figure of Firelord. It is packed with characters, and it's great to see Eric the Red in there. Great DPS!
