Looking from the bottom of the piece up I felt like I was seeing a fine art life study, and then boom the face of Spider-Woman emerges. Very cool Maleev sketch!
Dig the rawness and pose!
An almost charcoal effect from the thick pen, dragged quickly over the paper to such good effect. A lovely image, and the indistinct parts add to a sense of movement.
A powerful and evocative rough. While I've gone on record as preferring clean, polished, art, it's impossible to deny the visceral reaction that these types of pieces evoke. While it may seem to have been executed with economy and haste, it displays a full understanding of what makes a drawing work. Excellent piece.
I love the brushiness. In keeping what Kavi mentioned, it feels like the brush technique he would normally have used to do a nude study. All very organic and wonderful!
Awesome sketch! The hair, face, figure, and hand are so dynamic and well designed
I love how spontaneous it feels.
When a quick sketch technique works perfectly - the sense of movement and moment are fantastic!
Beautiful!
Gorgeous Spider-Woman sketch. When I first noticed it in thumbnail, I too thought it was a fine art sketch. Only when I clicked on it to make it larger did I realize it was Spider-Woman. And why not? Why should sketches of our favortie superheroes be drawn as skillfully and evocatively as fine art sketches?
Gotta love those Maleev brush strokes...so organic. Congrats!
