This page from the modern autobiographical classic features a touching interaction between Alison and her girlfriend while in college after lovemaking. It's the first time Alison will be home following her coming out. It ends with her standing in front of the foreboding "fun home" knowing you can never go home again.

As a queer person, I love this book since it hits very close to home and the experiences that both form our identity but also set us uniquely apart. What comes from environment and what we're born with swirls together into the self actualization that forms throughout our lives. What's most important and what I learned from Alison is to be yourself, whoever that might be.
