Jenny Sparks was always one of my favorites in The Authority. The spirit of the 20th century: no-nonsense, blunt, cynical, and principled. My kind of gal. 'A punk-rock Nick Fury with John Constantine’s cynicism and Captain America’s authority, if Cap chain-smoked and knocked back pints.'

So when I heard Tom King was bringing her back in a new series, I had to check it out. He’s a great writer, and the art blew me away. A fusion of Adam Hughes and Ryan Sook, clean, expressive, and stylish. The artist? Jeff Spokes. Never heard of him before, but the guy’s a monster talent.

He draws Jenny like a mix of Gwen Stefani and Yolandi Visser, with maybe a little Spice Girls edge. Early 2000s attitude all there.

Being a collector, I did some digging. Emailed him to ask about this page, and it was available. The series turned out to be excellent. Spokes handled all seven issues, start to finish. Definitely worth a read. And Jeff Spokes? Absolutely one to watch. Total badass.
