Description

Erwin pretends to bring Harlan as a captive. The dialogue here goes through page 80, where things take an unexpected turn:

“Hey, compañeros! You wanted the Dampyr? I brought him to you! What do you say? Now can I get back into the good graces of my Master, the Condor? Don't do anything rash, amigos, or he might make you regret it.”

“You're Erwin Rogers?”

“We can discuss this after the Dampyr, Harlan Draka, is dead. Why didn't you kill him yourself?”

“You guys are making such a fuss. I thought you'd like to hand him over to the Master, or take him out with your own hands.”

“Keep him away from us!”

“The order is to shoot him on sight! Do it!”

“As you wish.” (Harlan and Erwin start shooting the vampires at close range.)

“Aaagh!”

(Harlan dives as he comes under fire.) “Crap!”

(Erwin considers turning his gun on Harlan.) “They were hiding among the tombstones. Well played. But these bullets coated with Dampyr blood are really special. His head exploded. You had some nerve to give me a gun. I could have shot you.”

“That's why I was behind you. But it seems I made the right choice, Erwin. Now give it here.”

(Erwin surrenders his gun back to Harlan.) “The truth is, these sons of bitches really disgust me.”

(Tesla approaches) “I hope there are exceptions to the rule, Erwin.”

(Harlan) “Tesla! We were about to come to you.”

Page 79 “They lifted the siege and ran away. Apparently, Condor was following the situation through the eyes of one of these people. Now he knows you've switched sides, Erwin.” (literally "jumped the ditch")

(Kurjak) “Tesla has captured one as you asked, Harlan.”

“Rrrraaah!”

(Harlan examines the hostages.) “The man is unfortunately dead. Take the woman and the child away. Hurry!”

(The vampire captive flinches as Harlan approaches.) “No! No! Get away from me!”

“What I'm about to do is not pleasant for me either. But it won't last long.”

(Harlan bites the vampire's neck to absorb its memories.) “Aaggh!”

(Harlan has a vision of Condor) “A warm greeting from the Condor, Harlan Draka.”

(Condor causes the captive vampire to explode in Harlan’s face, burning him horrifically.) “Aaaah!"

Page 80 (Tesla) “Harlan! Harlan! Nooo!”

(Kurjak) “Stay away! This could be lethal for you. I'll take care of him. Baldwyn! Take her out into the darkness. Find her some clothes to cover her. The sun is rising.”

We don't often see Harlan going into "vampire mode" to feed on a vampire and steal their memories, but it has happened occasionally, and usually more successfully than what happens here. Condor is a particular canny opponent.

Intense gunplay action. Two bangers! (At least from the thumbnails)
