Always cool when there's a long stretched out shadow preceding the character's appearence. Great reveal at the end with the reflections on the glasses.
I love the whole set-up of this page, including the shadow announcing Grendel.
The way Argent leaps from the window. The way Grendel appears to be hiding above/behind the light fixture. The shadow approaching Barry. The blades nudging off the glasses. And the different reflections in each lense.
So much black ink used on these pages to great effect.
Fantastic. We always knew Grendel was going to show up, and Hester has given us many great camera angles from which to expect the sudden reveal, but Hunter blinking into existence there in panel gave me a shiver. Then the black, snaking shadow in panel 4... just perfect. I especially love the non-shadowed white space between the fork tines in panel 4, and how it smoothly transitions to desk. Just superb design dynamism from Hester and Parks. A very fulfilling "read", even (especially?) when leaving out all the text. Beautiful!
