Description
"Guadalcanal" by Paul S. Newman, cover date April-June 1964.

The Marines run into snipers in the jungle.

Perhaps Sam wrote "6.5 mm Sniper + scope" in the margin for the editor or colorist because they might ask about the weapon in the first panel. I'm not sure.

The writer could have stretched this over more pages to build up the drama as the sniper picks off more soldiers one by one until they can figure his position.

Whoa, thought it was a nightmare
Lord, it's all so true
They told me, go walking slow
The nips are on the loose

Don't run through the jungle
Don't run through the jungle
Don't run through the jungle
Whoa,  look around and see

Thought I heard a bullet
This is like hunting game
And I've got my gun loaded
And I'm taking aim

War in the jungle has many types of enemies. Some you shoot, some shoot you...and some will do whatever they can to get you out of their natural habitat.

The hand-written note is definitely in reference to the weapon needing to be in the panel.
