Description
Only two pieces left from my Original Comic Art Unboxing with Ruben DaCollector.

Number 2! The legendary Justice Society of America by Joe Staton and Bob Layton.

Unpublished splash page to All-Star Comics #70. Cover to Mitch Itkowitz's 1978 Original Art Gallery catalog cover.

Somewhere in-between someone added some color to it. I don't hate when pieces are colored, it doesn't bother me much, but I could do without the colors in the background on this piece. Still it's a nice vintage piece by Staton from his time on the JSA. Plus I got it cheap because of the colors and unknown origin.

This splash page was also the inspiration for the cover to Amazing Heroes #3 which I also own and you can see it HERE. You can easily see the similarities.

Great image of the JSA!
Roll call; Hawkman, Hourman, Starman, Dr. Mid-Nite, Superman!, Wildcat, Bruce Wayne, Power Girl, Star- Spangled Kid, Dr. Fate, Robin, Green Lantern, Flash and Wonder Woman. Whew! Love it!

The Justice Society of America by artists Joe Staton and Bob Layton. On 16.5X 11.5 board.1978

It was state of the art back then in the 70's to have colors like this.  Reminds me of the Art of Neal Adams magazine (1977) where there are heroes are on both sides with the orange and pink dyes in the background.

I think the background colors fit this piece perfectly. But different strokes for different folks!

A cool vintage JSA piece either way (as published on the OA catalog and as it exists now post-coloring)!

Wow! How was that unpublished? I absolutely loved Staton's JSA work, and this (eminently framable) piece is just superb. The upwards float of Dr Fate's cape adds to the sense of oddness of a team of superheroes sitting around a table. Beautiful!
