Description
Though not my first side quest obtained, this is the 1st entry into the side quest gallery. Being as how my re-introduction to comics was in the early 90's in the infancy of the Valiant & Image Days, alot of the obscure and unpopular titles from those companies has a special place in my head. Trencher was high on my list. I loved the unusual art style and I love it even more in the raw inks. The premise of a bounty hunter of souls was pretty cool. Still surprised there wasn't more pushback from DC over the Lobo similarities.

In most cases, to be a side quest it really only has to check off 1 box, but this one happens to check 3

Checking 3 boxes is pretty good for a side quest! Very interesting holiday/xmas themed content, I wasn't familiar with the series so it's interesting to learn about it through Giffen's art and your post. The art style isnt what I'm accustomed to seeing from him, and the published/colored version helps add the definition to see the scenes more clearly but it is really cool to see the line work by itself.

A three-checkbox page?!? Congrats, Scott! I remember hating how far Giffen had taken his style when this came out, because it strayed TOO far from the mainstream. But I learned to appreciate it more over the years as I saw it grow on me. Very cool!

Giffen's Trencher style is so unique!  It's like Giffen never lifted his pen when drawing.  No shading nor depth, just constant consistancy in line.
