Description
I first discovered Eisner Award winner Jonathan Case's work through his creator owned original graphic novel, "The New Deal." It is set at the Waldorf Astoria in 1930's New York and tells the story of how the lives of Frank, a young bellhop and Theresa, a maid who has a part in Orsen Welles' Voodoo Macbeth, are changed by Nina, a charming member of high society and a series of mysterious thefts at the hotel. Jonathan weaves a thrilling tale while exploring the class and racial tensions of depression era New York.

In addition to his own work, Johnathan did a number of issues for DC's Batman '66 comics. I love his take on the 1960's TV version of the characters, especially Julie Newmar's Catwoman and jumped at the chance to get a watercolor of her as Catwoman when I saw he was taking commissions.

That Catwoman '66 costume did wonders for young boys reaching adolescence.  I wasn't around then, but thanks for everything Julie Newmar.
