Description
I'm ecstatic to finally get this commission from one of my favorite artists, David Lapham. The theme is 2 heroes (from different comic universes) vs 1 villain, and including a rapper and an outstanding woman.

This one has my favorite hero Green Lantern and Doctor Strange battling Dormammu in the the Dark Dimension, with Tupac Shakur and justice Ketanji Brown-Jackson included.

David got excited about the theme and decided to go all out. He has a horde of mindless ones bursting into the scene. He also included a lot of extras, starting with Pac's convertible '61 Chevy Impala. Hellboy and Wonder Woman back up Green Lantern. The Impala's passengers include Beth (from Lapham's own Stray Bullets), Marvel Girl, Jughead and is driven by someone every Stray Bullets fan knows and loves.

As we discussed the commission a couple of years ago, David said "Not going George Perez or Geoff Darrow level detail" but he'd do some detail. I think he got caught up in the idea of the commission because he knocked it out of the park in his attention to detail!

I think this is phenomenal as is, but I can't help but wonder what it would look like in color. But I'll let that go and enjoy this masterpiece as is.

I'm picking up another commission in this theme in Baltimore this weekend. I'll post that one after the convention.

EDIT: The picture is a large file scan David emailed me. I added a photo I took of the signature David added after he scanned the picture. It's dedicated to my three children. My daughter Sanaa is not named Santana, but we all love the misspelling mistake. Hey, if your name is going to be misspelled, it might as well be after one of the greatest guitarists to ever pick up a pick.

A crossover of epic proportions!  Marvel, DC, El Capitan, Dark Horse, Archie, and our world showing that collaborations across the board can result in imaginative new ground broken!  You can tell Lapham was stoked to bring them together.

Thanks, Marcus. I have to admit David really came through in the end. The picture is everything I wanted it to be

Initially, I did not give him a villain, as I was still working through the idea myself. He came up with Dormammu and sent the original sketch with the Ditko-esque touches, and I loved it. Then he decided to add the extra characters and brought it all together perfectly.

East coast, West Coast and I guess for Dormammu the deep, deep south. Great  Art concept that reminds me of Celebrate the Century Books DC did with the Post Office.

East Coast, West Coast, Deep Dormammu South ... and wherever the heck Riverdale is?

Thanks for checking in. I'm really happy about this one and think it turned out surperbly!

Thanks. I can't look at it enough. I bet I've looked at it every day since it arrived. David really nailed what I wanted ... even if I didn't know what I wanted until I saw his preliminary sketch.
