CLICK HERE FOR AUCTION LISTING!9.25x12" display board has 3.25x3.25" thin artboard affixed w/clear plastic corner mounts. Artboard features pen and ink original art w/image within 2-7/8" dia. circle. Art depicts one of the Smokey Stover characters subset, w/hand-lettered "The Fire Chief" name below art and "Copr. 1946 Famous Artists Syn." hand-lettered text along top. Of note, there is a faint pencil sketch of Smokey the Car over The Fire Chief's shoulder, but this was clearly removed for the production buttons. Two tiny spots of staining at this area, o/w art remains clean and Exc. Display also includes separate 3.25" square sheet of onionskin paper w/red/fleshtone colors which, when placed over the bw art, provides the colors for the finished button. Left margin of this sheet is mounted w/.25" wide strips of double-sided tape at top/bottom to acetate sheet that can be removed from back and placed over art. Paper has a few thin ripple lines w/vertical fold at center, but these do not detract visually. Unique and historic button art. Comes w/example of the pin in custom case for display.
