I've been following the Danish mangaka, KIK, for a while. Her art tends to be dark and erotic, sometimes funny and sometimes scary (or Skari, you might say —more on that below). It is always interesting and always beautifully rendered in a variety of styles. Not long ago I reached out to inquire about a commission and was overjoyed when she seemed intrigued enough by the idea to consent to produce a sequential piece. I gave her free reign to work Death of the Endless into her storytelling style.


The first thought was to do something edgy, but then KIK thought of Death enjoying a mundane moment and remarked that among all of The Endless, she seems to be the only one who has ever expressed much interest in food. The idea of Death baking Blueberry muffins —and clearly enjoying the fruits of that labor, was an incredible concept and she immediately got to work on it.


You can see here that single page story, along with the pre-lim that she drafted for me to approve. She also added two bonus illustrations: a pin-up that I like to call Death in Denmark (which will get its own entry), and an Inktober sketch called "Dream" (how fitting!) from 2023.


KIK's latest graphic novel, SKARI, is available for pre-order (in Danish) now. It's a very cool horror story that gave me nostalgia for the glory days of Creepypasta.
