I was very excited to have the opportunity to acquire three pages by Zoe Thorogood from Joe Hill's RAIN adapted by David M. Booher and published by Image Comics as part of their Syzygy Imprint. This series earned three of Zoe's FIVE Eisner Award Nominations in 2023.



This five issue mini-series about young love (literally torn apart by an apocryphal downpour of nails) features innovative panel design made even greater by Zoe Thorogood's spectacularly unique perspective and eloquently rendered body language and facial expressions. It's no wonder the series is Eisner nominated for Best Adaptation from Another Medium with Zoe also independently nominated for Best Cover Artist and Best Painter/Multimedia Artist (interior art).



Rain first appeared in Joe Hill’s acclaimed novella collection Strange Weather, and the author had this to say about the comic adaptation:



“Honeysuckle Speck walked into my life back in 2016, trailing thunderclouds and one hell of a story like nothing I had ever really worked on before. It was a western; a mystery; an end-of-the-world-tale; a road-story; and, especially, a love story. It was so scary and sad and eccentric and absurd it was almost like it belonged to its own genre — call it grimquirk. I’m thrilled (and a little amazed) by the loneliness and emotional clarity of Zoe and David’s adaptation. Rain makes vivid this escalating apocalyptic event, as the deluge of nails spreads across the country and around the world, threatening everything young lovers Honeysuckle and Yolanda hold dear.
