Beautiful page. That first panel is amazing.
Totally agree with you on that first panel, its what makes the page for me. Love the depictions of architecture by Mignola in F&GM. I also find the depiction of Fafhrd's face interesting, in the sense that it feels very un-Mignola in terms of lighting.
I also think it was a great choice by Mike to silhoutte the two figures against that gorgeous architectural backdrop. As far as the lighting in that last panel, I think that probably had to do more with featuring his facial expression rather than playing with light and shadow. Hence the solid black background of the panel.
The storytelling is very strong! Williamson made these images look clean! Very much in contrast with how he inked JRJR in DD.
