Description

Aliens put Superman through a series of challenges, placing bets on his prospects. In this one, he must protect the bottle city of Kandor from destruction by a dozen simultaneous attacks. This page shows that if he fails, Paris and Metropolis will also be destroyed, just to make things even more serious. On this page, Lois encourages her man. The jailed man in the fourth panel represents Lois' frustration with more down-to-Earth societal problems.

Eddy Barrows is often inked to great effect by Ebel Ferreira, but Danny Miki also does an excellent job with Barrows' detailed and expressive lines, as seen here.

The stadium grid of seats and steps look like Superman is also caught behind bars.

It's interesting to see an expression of real fear on Superman's face. He looks defeated before he has started. Haunting.

Emotive thanks to some superb top to bottom storytelling from Barrows.  Congrats!
