Description

Note: I added page 6 to yesterday's post, so check it out if you missed it.

Page 7 Two young tourists visit Kampa Island in Prague and briefly see…

“An authentic, characteristic Prague beer hall! Come on! We'll be warm there! I can't wait… It's not possible! Where did the beer hall go? It said "pivo"! U Zeleneho… or something like that. You saw it too.” (Pivo means "Beer," and U Zeleneho Orla means "The Green Eagle.")

“I only see a wall. No beer at all. You're already drunk.”

“Or maybe the cold has frozen your tiny gray cells. Let's go, my little dreamer. I'll take you back to the hotel.”

“And yet I don't understand…”

Page 8 From inside the vanished tavern, two elderly spoks (ghosts) watch the tourists:

“Those two youngsters were coming here… but they turned back.”

“It seems they changed their minds, Mr. Ryšánek.”

“What a pity. I would have loved to meet them. It's been ages since I've seen any new faces. She was pretty, but eccentrically dressed. In my day, before the war, young ladies didn't wear trousers.”

“Which war are you referring to, my dear friend? The one in 1848?”

“It seemed to me there had been another one, at least… I don't know, my mind is confused…”

“As you know, Mr. Shegl, since I've been unwell, my memory isn't what it used to be.”

“Nothing better than another beer, then, dear Ryšánek.”

“My eyesight, however, is still good, Shegl. And inside our beer I see something that shouldn't be there.”

If I were to be a disembodied spirit forever, it would be a bummer to be stuck in the body I had just before I died, which presumably was not my most capable form.

Shegl and Ryšánek are recurring characters in Prague-based stories.

Cropera is a master mason. That brickwork is sublime!

I will second Rick. That's some of the best brickwork in comics I've seen posted to CAF in 2026. I didn't even pay close enough attention on the last post that we're focusing on a different Dampyr artist in this issue in Cropera, so far so good!
