Description
A fiery crash becomes the backdrop for transformation as two newcomers rise to carry the mantle of the Real American Hero series. Smoke drifts across the hillside as Duke and Roadblock stand over the wreckage of a downed Cobra Rattler, its fiery fall marking the rise of a new era for the G.I. Joe team. Artist Mike Vosburg, closing in on his final issues after a run that began with Issue #6, transformed Ron Rudat's groundbreaking designs into action on the page. Rudat, who designed every G.I. Joe figure from 1982 through 1986, gave these heroes their visual identity. Duke, first introduced as a 1983 mail-away figure and as a lead character in the animated series that same year, stood for leadership and unity. Roadblock, whose figure hit shelves alongside this issue, embodied raw power and resolve. Together, they brought fresh energy to the franchise, joining Snake Eyes and Scarlett among the icons that defined Real American Heroism for a generation.
