DescriptionMy homage to Superman #1 which recently sold at auction for $9.12 Million 🤯I can't imagine, at the time, that Joe Shuster would have thought that cover would ever have sold for such an astronomical amount of money. The simplicity of a cover like this, with it's current new price tag, speaks to how much we value iconic imagery in our society. And how often times, it's the simpler, poignant pieces that have the biggest impact. My piece, which was painted on 11X17in bristol board with gouache paint tries to capture that very simplicity and iconography by isolating the Superman figure against the plain white of the paper itself. Fully painted and signed by me, Thomas Pitilli. Social/Sharing |
