I've always loved the concept of Cerebus the Aardvark and have enjoyed some of the comics I've read. This piece really struck me because Mario really captured the attitude of the character with some beautiful linework. Simplicity handled masterfully.

It also reminded me a lot of my beloved Australian Silky Austin who passed away last January after 17 � years. Austin was a small dog-- 11.5 pounds most of his life but he was loaded with attitude if you came at him. If you were friendly and a good person he was very friendly. The only people he ever barked at was an old friend who turned out to be a dirt bag and my Attorney of which you can make your own lawyer joke.

One time Austin and I were walking-- and I am not making any of this up-- he insisted on wearing a sweater outside. Silkie's don't have the undercoat most dogs have which is why they don't shed, so picture a guy walking an 11lb dog and we come upon a K9 State Police Unit who had stopped so his dog could take care of dog business.

The Trooper put his hand up and warned me "Careful, my dog doesn't like small dogs." and just as I was about to pick him up the K9 lunged at Austin who not only stood his ground but lunged right back causing the K9 to rush back and jump into the open window of the cruiser.

The Trooper and I just smiled at each other and we finished our walk.

I imagine Cerebus has this type of attitude too. So thank you Marco for capturing both so beautifully.

A nice Cerebus piece by Mario! Sorry for your loss with Austin's passing, sounds like he was a great pup and friend.
