Description
I had to wait a bit for this one to come in but its soemthing I've wanted for a long while. I found out a some time ago that artist Enid Balam and I have similar tastes, one of which is classic cartoons like Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers. I have a lifelong love of animation and cartoons, and this show was a defining one for me. Some of my earliest memories are of watching these two gumshoes as a kid, and that iconic theme song which is still one of the very best as far as I'm concerned.
So when I found this out, I knew I had to be the one to make THIS request from THIS artist specifically, and couldn't let the opportunity go slipping through the cracks. I wasn't able to be at NYCC physically, but Balam took commissions through Whatnot during the show, and I was able to see the reaction when I sent in this request. Between me and him, I dont know who was more excited about it, and thats a rare thing indeed.
I finally got it in yesterday, and unsurprisingly he nailed the look, the tone, the adventure, the fun of the show perfectly. For an artists doing awesome work on Marvel heroes cureently, Enid has shown through the requests he gets that he can draw absolutely anything, no character too big or too small. This is now a prized possession of mine, and my second piece from the artist. Once more, I highly recommend everyone get something from Mr. Balam, he never fails once hes involved.
As an extra note, if you check his socials and find he also did a piece featuring Gadget and Zipper, also of Rescue Rangers fame, around the same time. When I asked him about this, he told me a family member saw my commission and ALSO loved the show so asked that he make a piece for them as a gift. Its a rare but special thing for a commission to be just as good for the artist as the buyer, and if I was able to facilitate good things like that by simply buying a commission, then all the better!
(There's several Rescue Rangers references in this post. If you caught them you have my respect.)
