Description

Here’s another beauty of a cover by the great Marie Severin! When I saw it coming on Heritage I knew I was going to make an attempt to get it and luckily I was able to! I love the large image of Cap, watching him be defeated and dragged… I miss the covers like this one that just made you want to buy the comic to find out what happened, which is something you don’t see a lot in modern covers!

Great full figure of Cap.  You can feel the heaviness of his unconscious body.  I wonder why Gene Colan signed the cover at the bottom right?  I know he drew the interior of this issue of the comic.  Maybe he sketched the layout of the cover for Marie Severin?

A wonderful Cap cover example that was one of my favourite pieces in the auction. I've always loved Marie Severin's pencilling. She was better than several of her male contemporaries but the misogyny of the times kept her from having the career she should've had, which is a travesty and such a shame. This particular cover exemplifies the mystery and drama that publishers used to demand and expect from the 1960's through 1980's. Covers that told a story and made the viewer ask questions and want to know what was going on. This is a great example of that! Congrats on the win, Alberto.

I guess he couldn't go all day.  Poor cap is being hung out like a tattered flag.

I hear ya!  With that intriguing image and the teaser caption about a "surprise villain," you couldn't wait to open up the comic to find out what was inside! Another fantastic Cap add!!

I'd much rather have a cover like this where the hero is vulnerable.

Awesome cover Alberto!  Historic issue from the advent of the run. I love seeing this Cap figure as large as you'll ever find under the title, so cool!

A really cool cover! Severin was really underated. You must like Cap in bondage or defeated because you have several covers with Cap captured!

To be fair I also have a lot of covers where he's not captured. I just have a lot of covers?
